When Dave Poulsen’s son Travis was getting ready to start High School rodeo, he decided he needed a new reliable horse trailer. At that time he was having trouble finding a dealer that sold a horse trailer he liked. He eventually decided on a Titan horse trailer, but he would need to drive to Kansas to pick one up. He made two trips to Kansas picking up horse trailers, 1 for his personal use, and 1 to sell to help recoup some costs.
As more people inquired, he decided to start a business selling horse and livestock trailers in the Logan, Utah area. Incorporated in 1992, he quit his job at Thiokol and started selling trailers out of his back yard. Making a couple moves as his business grew, he eventually ended up at our current location in Nibley, Utah.
Business started taking off after he started selling Exiss and Wilson Livestock trailers in 1999. Aluminum trailers were somewhat new and starting to gain popularity with their light weight construction. He gambled on this and it paid off, opening himself up to a new and growing customer base.
His oldest son Travis wanted to start selling and installing flat beds for pickup trucks, in 2000 they picked up Temco Manufacturing. What started out as a small niche, has grown! Adding Bradford Built in 2005, Moritz Int. 2009, and CM Truck Beds in 2017. Being one of Bradford Built’s biggest dealer for the last 10 years, as well as being rewarded Gold Status Dealer in 2017. CM had awarded the dealership with: Silver Status 2018/2019, Gold Status 2020, Platinum Status in 2021!
In the early 2000’s Dave’s interested went from horses to Horse Power! He began investing into cars he could take to Rocky Mountain Raceways and compete in bracket style drag racing. He had a variety ofdifferent cars including: in 2007: a 632 cubic inch nitrous rail, in 2016: a Chevy II that driven by Chris Hall won a Wally award, in 2016: a blown alcohol dragster that was ranked 4th in the nation, and set the national record running a 6.001 ¼ mile at 230.61 miles per hour!
He later shifted gears into rock crawling, owning many Jeeps, and buggies. He spent a couple of years competing in rock crawling competitions around the country.
In 2022 The Young Automotive Group acquired Poulsen Trailer Sales. We now carry a variety of trailers
and truck beds including: Maxx-D Trailers, Logan Coach Trailers, Load Trail, Hillsboro, Norstar, Titan Trailer, Xpress, Cargo Mate, CM Truck Beds, Echo Trailers, LS Tractor, and more.
